Y – The Last Man January 25, 2006

Sometime back, Jake or Sumo, had raved about a new Graphic Novel series Y – The Last Man. And as I read it, I can see why.

In the summer of 2002, something simultaneously kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome – including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm – with the exception of Yorick Brown, a young amateur escape artist, and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand.

So far, I have finished the first story arc (Issues #1 – 5) titled “The Unmanned”. Quite a few more left for later tonight. 🙂

oh. i am quite new the genre, nonetheless let me list some good ones that i have read so far. but many of these you will already have or have read

# watchmen – alan moore

# sandman – neilgaiman

# stardust – gaiman story, illustrated by chrles vess – single, standalone story. very nice

# works by Eisner – sumo was kind enough to dump a whole lot of his on me. eisner is considered something of a genre starter and his works not are drawn well but have amazing depth to the words and the stories.

# league of extraordinary gentlemen

and some more. will go home and send mail you a list of what i have. let me know if you want any in there.

just remembered some more

# the fables series by bill winnigham. awesome one this.

# 300 spartans by alan moore i think. again single standalone. beautiful artwork of the legendary battle of the spartans.

# wolverine – origins. very interesting and striking art work. unfortunately not all people liked the art work. but i loved it. as the title says this is like a six book take on how wolverine came to be.

Sumo man can definitely recommend some more.

Okay, Jake clearly knows his business. I’d recommend all the ones he did.
And Y is a classic.

Yo Jake,

Coming from MonkeyPup that is high praise. 🙂

Monkey Pup, while Gaiman, Eisner, Alan Moore, do try out some of the Japanese Manga: Neongenesis Evangelion, Naruto etc. I personally love them.

Cheers,
D.
